Field Care

These tips and pointers on how to take care of your deer in the field before it gets to me are important. It may affect the mount style or make it impossible to have the trophy you want without proper field care.
Field Dressing is not difficult, it is just knowing where to cut and not to cut. When gutting your deer do not cut up past the rib cage staying out of the brisket.
From there you may skin out the deer for mounting or take it to your local butcher shop, and they will skin it for you.
If you want to skin out your own deer starting from the rib cage forward skin out together leaving about 4 inches of the front leg.

Ø  Note for Deer in Velvet

Be extremely careful not to touch the rack, if your buck still has velvet, it doesn't need to be touched before the freeze-drying process. Do not drag or pull by the antlers.  Load and haul if possible, and if you have to drage the deer then hold head up and pull by the ears.

Mount Care

To properly care for your mount keep dusted.  Along with regular dusting, several times a year use a damp wash cloth, and gently wipe in the direction of hair growth.
